About the Vestibular Special Interest Group

The Vestibular Special Interest Group of the International Neurologic Physical Therapy Association was first established in March 2017 as the International Vestibular Physical Therapy Group.

Founding countries included Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, the USA, and the UK.

In May of 2019 INPA members voted to bring the VSIG as one of the first Special Interest Groups.

Our History

The Vestibular Special Interest Group (VSIG) of INPA was established in 2017 as a separate group and later was adopted into INPA. It is currently made up of six countries: Argentina, Brazil, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.  As about one-third of the population over the age of 40 complains of dizziness to their physicians, Vestibular Physiotherapists find themselves in more demand. While evaluation and treatment of vestibular issues crosses a multitude of disciplines, the physiotherapist is in a unique position to perform the rehab of the patient complaining of imbalance or vertigo.  In many settings the physiotherapist is the expert to evaluate and treat patients complaining of vertigo or dysequilibrium.
